Yummy Weekend Breakfast

I visited the Pannikin in Leucadia this morning for breakfast with my family. Wow, it's cool to finally get out of the house after being indoors for the last week due to the rain. This coffee shop/restaurant has wonderful eats. Their Berry pies are amazing. The crust is thick and buttery and the pie is dense and full of fresh fruit. They have beautiful cakes and muffins and huge cookies and lemon bars. I had the Steamed Greek eggs, yummy! The portions are generous and I am always inspired by the congenial staff members.

This restaurant has been an icon in this area for more years than I have lived here in San Diego and I have been here 23 years. I was first introduced when my Dad and Mom took me there when I was in college (many moons ago).It was one of their favorite hangouts. Their coffee is great! It is the old train depo from long ago and for as long as I have been going there it has not changed. It's housed in a funky old wooden building that is painted yellow and white. The original wood floors yield under your feet and there is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. It's reminiscent of the idea of a beachy surfer spot and a great place to go for a weekend relaxing breakfast or coffee.
